We gotta get to this more!

This summer is proving to be busier than most and we've left you out in the cold. Sorry about that. With this July proving to becoming one of the second coldest on record, it's just not right of us to add fuel to the fire.

Therefore, we're going to cut down on the chatter and increase the photos. It's been a few weeks since we last posted and a ton has happened. We're pretty excited that the little boy is plenty more mobile and talking up a storm. The only problem is that he's listening more and repeating so we definitely have to watch what we say around him Pape (Marc's dad) we're especially talking to you. HA!

First, we went to the Deanna Rose Farm and learned that animals are fun. . . at a distance. Jakob felt this was nice, but the real fun was the gigantic slides and outdoor metal jungles the farm had.

The Royals stink so why not head to the T-Bones game? Turned out to be a great evening with Nana, Pape, our friends the Fields and Kim's coworker/friend Christy and her daughter Grayson. The T-Bones smoked the other team from some other town 15-0. That's a baseball game! It was military recognition night and Jakob got to see some of our finest up close and personal. Very cool.

Kim had been waiting since March to head to see her favorite band Def Leppard at the Sprint Center with her sister Jill and her friend Christy. She got to see them along with Cheap Trick (no jokes) and Poison. They had a blast and while the photos are a little blurry, you get the idea that the stage rocked and I'm pretty sure there were some mall bangs, fringe jackets and pinch-rolled pants in the audience.

Last weekend we went up to Omaha to meet Kim's sister Jill and Jakob's cousins Becca and Daniel to go to the Henry Doorly Zoo. It was great weather, but it was also free day and the park set a new attendance record. So, we saw a few things, escaped before they could keep Kim and headed over to the Old Market for a great dinner at the Spaghetti Works and shopping. The next day we got to see Marc's roommate and good friend from college Scotte Hansen, his wife and their new great looking boy Lane. Plus we got to eat at Qdoba!

The little boy is growing up fast and we've graduated to a big boy bed. BUT, not ordinary big boy bed will do for our guy. We got him a Little Tikes bed, painted it black and we're working on getting a Batman emblem for the front. As you can see, he's somewhere between Adam West and Michael Keaton in terms of quality superhero.

Next weekend, Jakob turns 2 and we will be celebrating his birthday. It seems like only yesterday that we got the call during Mad Men on AMC that he had arrived. He's one amazing kid and we couldn't be happier.

1.21 Gigawatts of power please

Okay folks, it's time to jump into the only stainless steel car ever made and head, as Kim's favorite singer Huey Lewis said, "back in time."

In order to effectively tell this story from the beginning, we need to head back to star date May 25-28, 2009. On those days, Jakob spent some much needed time with his Grandma and Grandpa Law on their farm in Churdan, IA. While he was there, Great Grandma, Aunt Jill and his cousin Becca came down to spend one of the days with him as well. Cousin Daniel was MIA.

It was great for Jakob to get a bigger taste of farm life than when we go up for a weekend event or holiday. Now that he is older, he was able to enjoy more of what the farm had to offer and enjoyed getting the full tour from Grandma and Grandpa. We had been rehearsing it for weeks, and when he was up there he was able to say "Grandpa," "Grandma," "Aunt Jill" and "Becca."

Grandma and Grandpa had their own "buddy" which Jakob calls a vacuum. They also spent a lot of time outside. The pictures below do better justice to the good time he had:
