Stunt man television star

Jakob continues to obtain notoriety through any means necessary. We have started a new daycare and while the change wasn't the easiest, Jakob is doing quite well, learning a lot and on his way to becoming more and more of a "big boy" each day. A few weeks ago, Jakob's photos were featured in a gallery showing at Marc's work with plenty of "oo-ing" and "ahhh-ing."

The best part is the cost. We were under the impression that we would need to pay the difference of what the state of Missouri wasn't going to pay for his weekly fees. Turns out they're covering a certain amount and that's all that is required. So, we're paying nada for daycare and that's a huge help financially. In addition, God continues to bless us with unexpected money. We received a few checks to help cover the legal fees we incurred for Jakob's adoption which not only helps out with that, but also gets us back on track with savings for anything that comes along later.

The little boy was AGAIN on the NBC Action News segment "Birthday's with Brent." This time it was to celebrate his adoption date anniversary. It was interesting seeing again how far he's come. To see the clip from the show, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ3agbqJRyY.

Jakob is cutting his first molars and you can imagine how much fun that is to be a part of. He has also decided that when he's getting his diaper changed or clothes put on it's time to scream and roll around to try to get away. Good times. A few days ago he decided he no longer likes baths and screams as soon as he gets in the water. As a result, he tried to stand up and get out leading to the following photos of a head bruise when he fell down and bumped his melon:

One of the greatest things a parent can see at their daycare is a sign that announces that foot and mouth disease is running around the kids. We kept him home today thinking last night that he had gotten it. After a quick run to the doctor, he deducted that Jakob is in the clear without the dreaded kid sickness. Yahoo!

Jakob's eating habits are changing as well. He's off the bottle completely now using only a sippy cup and we're feeding him predominately table food or anything we eat. It's also challenged us to eat more healthy so we're not encouraging child obesity. In addition to this great food, Jakob has found that a steady diet of mischief and facial tissues is just what the doctor ordered:

He doesn't walk yet, but is crazy strong and as mobile as most G.I. Joe toy aircraft and tanks. Simply put, the kid's en fuego. He's "gentle" with things he touches, but thankfully, we haven't had to replace anything. We are going to make a conscious effort to move to the next step in childproofing this weekend as Jakob has figured out that he likes to open every drawer and cabinet possible. Exciting.

In a few weeks we hope to introduce him to a homecoming weekend, the Renaissance Festival and Jesse James Days. This week Kim went on a field trip with the kids to go bowling and next week Marc will be featured in his hometown newspaper on a recent award he won at work.

If you keep tuning in, we'll keep providing news.

More soon.

A Festivus for the rest of us

So, needless to say, we rocked it out over Labor Day weekend!

Sunday morning, Marc helped lead worship at our church's Venue acoustic service. Afterward, we loaded up the little boy in Nana's van with her and Miss Tracy and headed over to Independence for Santicaligon Days.

It was hot, but the little boy loved it. He went back and forth in mommy's arms, then the stroller for a while then into daddy's arms. He also did another first. Granted, it wasn't the prettiest thing in the world, but he did drink very well little by little from a big boy water bottle. Daddy shared his water with him and occasionally it went onto his shirt or down the wrong pipe, we can tell he's getting smarter and smarter.

We followed Nana and Miss Tracy into one vendor tent and out another. The day also included visits to get the typical "good for you" carnival food including, pork tenderloin sandwiches, fried potato chips, curly fries, steak sandwiches and corn dogs. We were going to get a turkey leg and fried candy bar, but it was so hot we concentrated on drinks and sun screen instead.

On Monday, Nana came over for another visit to spend some time with Jakob while mommy and daddy went to see "The House Bunny." It was totally funny. Kim is looking forward to October when Saw V comes out. Just kidding.

Yesterday, we had our orientation at what will soon be Jakob's new daycare, Creative World. We are really impressed by the staff, facility and program they have there and the best part is that it is state registered so the subsidy we have for Jakob will pay for the majority or all of his tuition. Pretty exciting.

Tomorrow, the NFL regular season begins and we will be watching. Last year, Jakob was able to watch games with daddy, but he was asleep during them as he was only a few months old. This year, we hope he will get into it although as before mentioned, he really just enjoys being on the leather couch. :)

This weekend, Kim will be enjoying a baby clothing sale which will most likely glean Jakob quite a few outfits for the fall and winter, because as you can see, he's in desperate need of a shirt (or two). In a few weeks, Marc will be going with his buddy Mark Bond to Vineyard for the Jeremy Riddle concert. Should be a great show and he's looking forward to it!
