Stunt man television star
Jakob continues to obtain notoriety through any means necessary. We have started a new daycare and while the change wasn't the easiest, Jakob is doing quite well, learning a lot and on his way to becoming more and more of a "big boy" each day. A few weeks ago, Jakob's photos were featured in a gallery showing at Marc's work with plenty of "oo-ing" and "ahhh-ing."
The best part is the cost. We were under the impression that we would need to pay the difference of what the state of Missouri wasn't going to pay for his weekly fees. Turns out they're covering a certain amount and that's all that is required. So, we're paying nada for daycare and that's a huge help financially. In addition, God continues to bless us with unexpected money. We received a few checks to help cover the legal fees we incurred for Jakob's adoption which not only helps out with that, but also gets us back on track with savings for anything that comes along later.
The little boy was AGAIN on the NBC Action News segment "Birthday's with Brent." This time it was to celebrate his adoption date anniversary. It was interesting seeing again how far he's come. To see the clip from the show, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ3agbqJRyY.
Jakob is cutting his first molars and you can imagine how much fun that is to be a part of. He has also decided that when he's getting his diaper changed or clothes put on it's time to scream and roll around to try to get away. Good times. A few days ago he decided he no longer likes baths and screams as soon as he gets in the water. As a result, he tried to stand up and get out leading to the following photos of a head bruise when he fell down and bumped his melon:
One of the greatest things a parent can see at their daycare is a sign that announces that foot and mouth disease is running around the kids. We kept him home today thinking last night that he had gotten it. After a quick run to the doctor, he deducted that Jakob is in the clear without the dreaded kid sickness. Yahoo!
Jakob's eating habits are changing as well. He's off the bottle completely now using only a sippy cup and we're feeding him predominately table food or anything we eat. It's also challenged us to eat more healthy so we're not encouraging child obesity. In addition to this great food, Jakob has found that a steady diet of mischief and facial tissues is just what the doctor ordered:
He doesn't walk yet, but is crazy strong and as mobile as most G.I. Joe toy aircraft and tanks. Simply put, the kid's en fuego. He's "gentle" with things he touches, but thankfully, we haven't had to replace anything. We are going to make a conscious effort to move to the next step in childproofing this weekend as Jakob has figured out that he likes to open every drawer and cabinet possible. Exciting.
In a few weeks we hope to introduce him to a homecoming weekend, the Renaissance Festival and Jesse James Days. This week Kim went on a field trip with the kids to go bowling and next week Marc will be featured in his hometown newspaper on a recent award he won at work.
If you keep tuning in, we'll keep providing news.
More soon.
