February 2006, this quest began. Today, May 6, 2008, with all of the t's crossed and i's dotted, "Baby Boy Rosell" is officially now "Jakob Marcus Vasquez." The last thing our lawyer asked us was "And you understand that after today you will be this boy's rightful parents as though you had conceived him yourself?" To which we answered, "Yes." Then the ward of the state, in his final comments said, "Just one more thing your honor. I have a recommendation that this boy be adopted by the plaintiffs as they are more than fit for parenthood." So, as you can see, we're now the rightful parents (wow) of the cutest baby in the known universe. We're going to have jackets made.

All in all, a very emotional day, and we toyed with idea of changing the name of our blog to something like "Vasquez Family Experience" or something like that, but we can't. We've decided that in January we will begin the paperwork again to get started on the second addition to our family, Jakob's sibling.
